Early Elementary: Pre-K through 2nd Grade

Our Pre K through second grade program meets up at the Lerner school from 9:35-12:00 on Sunday mornings. A typical day begins with a Mitzvah circle. It includes storytelling, arts and crafts, generally connected to the Jewish holidays. This is followed by recess with challah and juice for snack and a T’filah  prayer service  from 11:30-12:00 to end the day. Our first and second grade classes use the Chai Curriculum which focuses on three pillars of Jewish learning: Torah, Avodah, and G’milut Chasadim.

Babysitting is available for families with children in the Merkaz Limud, the religious school, who have a 12:30 dismissal.

Curriculum Overview

Pre-Kindergarten (4 years old) and Kindergarten:  Living a Jewish life is fun!

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten students explore the exciting aspects of being Jewish. Through interactive projects, our students are introduced to Jewish holidays, Torah stories, prayers, and Jewish values.

1st Grade: I am a part of the ongoing story of the Jewish people.

Our 1st Graders continue to develop their Jewish identity by learning the Jewish story that starts with B'reishit--Genesis. Through learning about Jewish holidays and Jewish actions, our students discover that their Jewish actions can celebrate the world around them.

2nd Grade:  Jewish stories, celebrations, and rituals help me understand our tradition and can help me develop a relationship with God and the Jewish people.

Our 2nd Grade students explore the world around them and examine the actions that they perform throughout their day. They continue to develop an understanding of God based on Jewish traditions, and they explore the ways that their actions can help make the world a better place.
