Civic Engagement
Who We Are
Judea Reform's Civic Engagement team often collaborates with our Racial Equity and Justice Initiative on matters related to voting, local policy, interfaith collaboration, and urgent community actions.
Our Work
Our Work
The Civic Engagement Team has been an active partner with St. Joseph AME church located in heart of Durham’s Hayti district, in what was formerly known as “Black Wallstreet.” We stand in solidarity with their Souls to the Polls event, a faith-based movement to engage the community and involve them in the political process which takes place during election seasons. We attend their Social Justice Sunday
service and then caravan to the Early Voting Polling Site located at North Carolina Central University, our Historically Black College and University (HBCU) to rally.
We also partner with nonpartisan voting rights organizations, such as You Can Vote, and the Center for Common Ground to educate and engage voters, help with nonpartisan voter registration drives and provide assistance to people about the importance of voting., We also participate in issues based phone banking and postcard writing with the Religious Action Center of the URJ.
