Judea Reform Congregation is proud to be the home of one of the first Reform Chevra Kadisha in the country.

What is a Chevra Kadisha?

Chevra Kadisha are groups within Jewish communities that come together at the end of a life to care for the deceased and comfort the living through Jewish ritual and traditions.

Members of our Chevra Kadisha are available to perform Taharah  rituals for their fellow congregants at the request of the family.

How Do I Arrange for the Services of the Chevra Kadisha?

A Judea Reform staff member will discuss end-of-life and burial options with you and
will schedule appropriate rituals. Contact Julie Fishkin, Life Cycle and Pastoral Care Manager to arrange end-of-life care.

How Many Congregants are Currently Involved with the Chevra and How Can I Get Involved?

The Chevra roster includes 33 women and 14 men. The Chevra is open to any member of JRC. If you are interested in joining our Chevra Kadisha please contact Nancy Luberoff, Volunteer Coordinator of the Chevra Kadisha.
